Tadashige Nishida[西田忠重] Woodblock print "Yatsugatake (2)"
No. 89 of 150
Before dawn, the tranquility of Yatsugatake seems to permeate the air itself --
This work, in which golden clouds float in the clear blue sky and illuminate the silvery ridgeline, is a masterpiece created by Tadashige Nishida's deep respect for nature and delicate observation.
"Yatsugatake (2)" is a particularly tranquil scene among his works that feature the famous Yatsugatake mountain range. The snow-covered earth and the majestic trees express the harshness of nature as well as its overwhelming beauty. The clouds floating in the sky are decorated with gold leaf, adding a sacred light to the screen and inviting the viewer into a fantastical world.
The quietly spreading trees at the bottom of the screen give the impression of the silent breathing of winter, creating a silence as if time has stopped. The distant mountain ranges contain a magnificent story that has been carved into them through the long history of the Earth and the cycle of the seasons.
It goes well not only with Japanese-style rooms, but also with modern spaces and mid-century interiors, and has an artistic quality that blends naturally into global spatial designs.
